In this generative and illustrative session, poet, children's author, and Typewriter Rodeo founder Sean Petrie will begin by -- BOOM! -- writing a spontaneous poem from audience suggestions in less than a minute, on a typewriter. Then he'll walk through successful poetry readings and exercises he’s used in schools across the U.S. Will you act out some animal poems? Write some quick-fun original verses for each other? You will! You'll also come away with a set of exercises and poems you can use in your library or classroom, and a renewed appreciation for the joys of reading and writing poetry.
